Dr. Daniel Cater is an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics in the Division of Pediatric Critical Care at Riley Hospital for Children. He earned his medical degree from Michigan State University in 2015. He then completed Pediatrics residency and fellowship in Pediatric Critical Care Medicine at Indiana University School of Medicine. Additionally, he has completed his Master of Clinical Research at Indiana University School of Medicine.
Dr. Cater’s translational research centers on pediatric sepsis, with a specific focus on S-nitrosothiols and protein S-nitrosylation, key post-translational modifications in sepsis. His work also extends to the development of novel medical devices aimed at improving sepsis outcomes. Currently, he holds a K12 career development award, investigating S-nitrosothiol levels in both murine sepsis models and pediatric patients with sepsis.
