Bio
Dr. Kamal Abulebda joined the IU School of Medicine faculty in 2014 after completing his fellowship in Pediatric Critical Care at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center. He has been instrumental in establishing the pediatric procedural sedation protocol at Riley Hospital and expanding sedation services for pediatric patients hospital-wide.
A key achievement in Dr. Abulebda's career is the creation of the Pediatric Community Outreach Mobile Education (PCOME) Program, funded by the Indiana University Health Values Grant. This program uses medical simulation to enhance acute care for ill and injured children in community emergency departments across Indiana.
As the medical director of the Riley Hospital for Children Simulation Program, Dr. Abulebda leads multiple research projects aimed at optimizing emergency department preparedness for pediatric patients. He also serves as Co-Chair of the ImPACTS (Improving Pediatric Acute Care through Simulation) network, focusing on improving care for children nationwide. His current research assesses and enhances care processes in community hospitals, with a commitment to advancing pediatric acute care both locally and nationally.
