Bio
Dr. Steven Mong is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Surgery at the IU School of Medicine Department of Surgery. Additionally, he assumed the role of Assistant Program Director for General Surgery, focusing his efforts on mentorship of the PGY 1 surgery residents. Dr. Mong obtained a B.S. from Baldwin Wallace University in Berea, Ohio, and transitioned to Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine for his medical training. He joined the general surgery residency program at IU School of Medicine Department of Surgery in 2013. He was an administrative chief resident during his final year of residency training in 2017-2018 and after graduation, joined the general surgery division at IU School of Medicine Department of Surgery.
Currently, Dr. Mong practices general surgery and robotic surgery at IU Health Methodist Hospital and the Richard A. Roudebush Veterans Hospital Medical Center. Dr. Mong became board-certified by the American Board of Surgery in 2019.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Mong enjoys spending time with his wife and three sons, traveling, basketball, and cheering for his beloved Pittsburgh Pirates.
