Dr. Ludwig was raised in New Orleans, LA.  After completing all of her surgical training, she practiced breast surgery in Dallas, TX.  She moved to Indianapolis in 2010, when she joined the faculty at IU School of Medicine.  Dr. Ludwig practices breast surgery full time at IU Health North Hospital in Carmel, the first NAPBC-accredited breast program in the state of Indiana.  In 2015, she was named the Medical Director of IU Health North Breast Care, with goals of providing the highest quality multidisciplinary care of women with breast cancer.  She has received awards for her excellence in both student and resident teaching.  She is married to Dr. Aaron Ludwig.  Outside of work, Dr. Ludwig enjoys group fitness classes, traveling, and spending time with her children (Harper and Nolan) and dog (Abita).

    Dr. Ludwig has been involved in multiple collaborative studies in her practice as a breast surgeon, both with local collaboration via the IU School of Medicine and nationally.  This includes the surgical management of women with breast cancer, management of women with benign breast disease, and other studies looking at quality of life indicators in breast cancer survivors.  She is an active participant in the Alliance for Clinical Trials in Oncology and Translational Breast Cancer Research Consortium.

  • Clinical Interests

    Dr. Ludwig's clinical interests involve all aspects of breast care, including surgical management of women with breast cancer, benign breast disease, and surveillance/risk reduction of high risk women.  Her surgical interests include nipple sparing mastectomy, oncoplastic breast surgery, and axillary management.  She is an editorial reviewer for national journals such as the American Journal of Surgery, Annals of Surgery, and Annals of Surgical Oncology.  She has written book chapters on managment of lobular carcinoma in situ, complications of breast surgery, and management of high risk pathology.
