Bio

Randall Loder, MD, joined the Indiana University School of Medicine Department of Orthopaedic Surgery in 2003 as a professor of orthopaedic surgery. He specializes in pediatric orthopaedic surgery and practices primarily from Riley Hospital for Children at Indiana University Health.

Prior to joining the faculty and staff in Indianapolis, he worked at Shriners Hospitals for Children—Twin Cities in Minneapolis and CS Mott Children’s Hospital at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor.

Loder followed in his grandfather’s footsteps to become a physician.

While attending medical school at Washington University, he learned to love orthopaedics and working with young patients. He combined those interests when choosing his specialty.

Now, he enjoys working with medical students and residents because of the curiosity they bring to a clinical environment. Their questions always manage to keep the faculty on their toes, Loder said.

He hopes the young trainees he works with each day learn from him to see the positives of practicing medicine, particularly how rewarding caring for patients can be.
