Dr. Billows graduated from the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine in 1992. Following graduation he completed his residency in Emergency Medicine in 1995 at the Methodist Hospital Emergency Medicine Residency Program, where he served as Chief Resident. Prior to attending medical school Dr. Billows was a FireFighter/Paramedic for 13 years with the City of Fairborn, Ohio. During his tenure on the fire department he was promoted to the level of Platoon Commander and as such was responsible for the supervision of fire prevention and suppression activities for the City of Fairborn. While working on the fire department, Dr. Billows completed his undergraduate education at Wright State University and subsequently worked part-time as a flight nurse for the Care Flight Air Medical Service of Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton, Ohio. He served as Medical Director for our LifeLine helicopter service from December of 1996 until January of 2007. As the LifeLine Medical Director responsibilities included oversight of crew medical training and provision of medical care, protocol development and run audits, orientation of Emergency Medicine Interns to the LifeLine program, Flight Physician training, and liason between LifeLine personnel and Emergency Medicine residents. Dr. Billows has been involved with the Indianapolis Racing League as a Safety Team Physician and has been a Deputy Medical Director for the IRL and the IMS. Currently Dr. Billows is the Medical Director for the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, where he is responsible for driver evaluation and treatment, as well as the provision of emergency spectator care. Dr. Billows is ABEM certified, and is a Fellow of the American College of Emergency Physicians (FACEP). In ACEP he has been involved with the Air Medical Section, and has been on the BOD of Indiana State Chapter where he served as the EMS Chairperson.
