Dr. Jeremy L. Herrmann is an assistant professor of surgery in the Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery at IU School of Medicine. He specializes in pediatric and adult congenital cardiac surgery including heart transplantation. His hospital affiliations include IU Health Riley Hospital for Children and Methodist Hospital.
Dr. Herrmann is a native of Indiana. He received his undergraduate degree from Wabash College then earned his medical degree from the Indiana University School of Medicine in 2006. He completed his general surgery residency at IUSM in 2013. During that period, he completed an NIH-sponsored Ruth L. Kirschstein National Research Service Award (F32) Fellowship focusing on the paracrine effects of mesenchymal stem cells and their potential cardioprotective effects against ischemia/reperfusion injury in the heart. Following residency, he completed his cardiothoracic surgery fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania and his congenital cardiac surgery fellowship at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. He returned to Indiana in his current position following completion of his training.
