Bio

Dr. Julianne Giust is the Indiana University Associate Program Director for the Triple Board Residency and the Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship. She earned her medical degree at IU School of Medicine, trained at Brown University’s Triple Board Residency, and boarded in Pediatrics, Adult Psychiatry, and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.   She uses her integrated training to focus on her main clinical interests- the complex interplay between chronic medical illness and psychological wellbeing of the pediatric patient/family and systems methods to improve access to mental healthcare for children.  From 2010-2019, Dr. Giust’s clinical work was in child and adolescent consultation-liaison and emergency psychiatry services. Since retiring from the role of medical director of the Riley Child and Adolescent Consultation-Liaison Inpatient Service, she has developed an outpatient Consultation-Liaison Clinic and continues to work part time on the inpatient consultation-liaison service.  In addition, Dr. Giust directs time toward improving access to care for child mental health problems through her work in the Riley Assessment and Followup Team (RAFT) clinic and in her role in training primary care providers to have increased comfort and evidence based approach to mental health treatment in children through the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Project ECHO.  Dr. Giust also has specific interests in medical student mentorship and development of child individual and family psychotherapy foundational knowledge and skills in residents and fellows.
