Charles R. Powell, MD

Bio

Dr. Powell is an associate professor of urology at Indiana University School of Medicine, boarded in Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery (FPMRS). His area of expertise includes urethroplasty in males and females, robotic surgery for complex pelvic prolapse, neurogenic bladder and urinary diversion, and correction of complications from vaginal mesh. He serves as the service line leader for the suburban urology practice. His research interests include development of wireless implantable devices for measuring bladder pressure, diabetes and its effects on the bladder, and female urethra reconstruction. The work has been funded by the NIDDK and has resulted in patents. He has been active in training residents not only in Indiana but also in Kenya and Gabon, with an interest in missionary medicine.
