Bio
Dr. Diaz’s primary clinical role is as an attending psychiatrist with the Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry Service at IU Health University Hospital. This tertiary care hospital is both a satisfying and challenging place to provide clinical care and to teach fellows, residents, and medical students. The integration of medical and psychiatric skills is critical to the individual trainee and is the future of the profession of psychiatry. Dr. Diaz founded the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) accredited Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry Fellowship and continues to serve as associate program director.
He is active in the Indiana Psychiatric Society (IPS), the American Psychiatric Association (APA), the Indiana State Medical Association (ISMA), and the American Medical Association. Through these organizations, he mentors trainees and others regarding advocacy so that all can get access to quality mental health care. His goal is to encourage and empower trainees to continue this work into the future. He is a past president of the Indianapolis Medical Society, a four-time past president of IPS, and is President of the Indiana State Medical Association for 2023-2024. He is a Distinguished Life Fellow of the APA. He is a Fellow of the Academy of Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry. Dr. Diaz believes participating in these areas of organized medicine is a good way to give back to the profession and is his professional duty.
