Bio
Dr. Diaz’s primary clinical role is as medical director of the Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry Service at IU Health University Hospital. This tertiary care hospital is both a satisfying and challenging place to provide clinical care and to teach fellows, residents and medical students. The integration of medical and psychiatric skills is critical to the individual trainee and is the direction and future of the profession of psychiatry. He greatly enjoys working with psychiatric fellows, residents and medical students in this and other clinical settings.
He also serves as Program Director of the ACGME-accredited Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry Fellowship. He is an attending at IU Health’s Integrated Care treatment model at primary care offices with the goal of increasing access to care for patients and providing timely consultation to primary care colleagues.
Dr. Diaz is active in the Indiana Psychiatric Society and is dedicated to advocacy efforts, particularly at the national level through the American Psychiatric Association, the Indiana State Medical Association, and the American Medical Association. I do this not only personally but also make efforts to mentor trainees and others in this area as well. He is a past president of the Indianapolis Medical Society and current Board Chair of the Indiana State Medical Association. Dr. Diaz believes participating in these areas of organized medicine is a good way to give back to the profession and is his professional duty.
