Southwest Internal Medicine Residency Program

The Indiana University School of Medicine Southwest Indiana Internal Medicine Residency Program is designed to provide broad-based clinical training to its trainees. The learning model for the program integrates competency-based residency training into an integrated resident-faculty practice to the existing Accountable Care Organizations (ACOs). These organizations consist of a group of physicians, health care facilities and other health care providers working together to provide coordinated, high-quality care to Medicare patients.

The goal of this program is to provide general internal medicine specialists to the southwest Indiana region. Throughout the course of training, residents will develop the individual knowledge, skills and attitudes, as well as the teaming skills necessary to fulfill roles in high-functioning clinical systems. This expanded and collaborative model of collective competence is particularly tailored to the rural, underserved regions of southwest Indiana.

Hospital partners for this residency program include Good Samaritan and St. Vincent Evansville.
