Bio

Dr. Carpenter currently serves as assistant professor of surgery. Dr. Carpenter received his medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine and his Masters in Public Health in epidemiology from Indiana University.

Prior to joining Indiana University, Dr. Carpenter completed general surgery residency at Indiana University followed by surgical critical care fellowship at the University of Michigan. As a general surgery resident, he spent a year working in Eldoret, Kenya as a Fulbright Core U.S. Scholar.

His clinical focus is in general and acute care surgery and includes robotic surgery.

Dr. Carpenter’s academic focus is in improving access to surgical care and the education of surgical providers in underserved parts of the world.

Dr. Carpenter is a member of the American College of Surgeons, American Association for the Surgery of Trauma and Society for Critical Care Medicine.
