Dr. Ho’s research aims to develop novel treatments for blood cancers by investigating the mechanistic aspects of hematologic malignancies. Specifically, Dr. Ho focuses on elucidating the role of cancer stem and progenitor populations and their interactions with the bone marrow microenvironment (BMME) in myeloid malignancies, including acute myeloid leukemia (AML) and myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS), using both human specimens and murine models. Dr. Ho is also interested in understanding how BMME populations, such as mesenchymal stromal cells (MSCs), influence the response of leukemia stem cell (LSCs) and MDS hematopoietic stem and progenitor cells (HSPCs) to drug treatment in order to develop novel therapies.
