Bio
Dr. Abdulkareem currently serves as Assistant Professor of Surgery and specializes in Cardiac Surgery. Dr. Abdulkareem received his medical degree with Honors from Misr University for Science and Technology.
Prior to joining Indiana University, Dr. Abdulkareem finished his general surgery training at the University of Illinois at Chicago and his cardiothoracic surgery training at the University of Pittsburgh. He worked as a Clinical Associate Staff in the Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation, where he participated in general and complex cardiac surgery cases and acquired advanced skills in aortic surgery and cardiothoracic transplantation. He is board-certified in both general surgery and cardiothoracic surgery.
His clinical interest is in treating aortic diseases and cardiothoracic transplantation.
Dr. Abdulkareem has authored and co-authored several articles, abstracts, and book chapters on surgery and cardiothoracic surgery. He continues his work focusing on cardiothoracic and aortic diseases. He is the recipient of many academic awards and is an active member of the American College of Surgeons and Society of Thoracic Surgery.
