Bio
Dr. Eng is a Research Assistant Professor within the Department of Surgery and a member of the IUSM Surgical Outcomes and Quality Improvement Center (SOQIC). He was previously a Statistical Research Associate at the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. Dr. Eng is a quantitative behavioral scientist whose research focuses on surgical education, wellness, outcomes, and psychometrics. He currently serves as the senior research methodologist and statistician on the SECOND Trial, a national, prospective pragmatic cluster-randomized trial of more than 200 ACGME-accredited general surgery residency programs that aims to leverage data-driven quality improvement approaches, coupled with intervention tools to support improvement, to both characterize and improve the learning environment and well-being of U.S. surgical residents.
Dr. Eng earned a B.S. in Psychology from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and a Ph.D. in Social and Personality Psychology from the University of California, Berkeley. He also completed a postdoctoral research fellowship at the University of California, Berkeley.
