Bio

Arya Iranmanesh, MD is currently a cardiothoracic radiologist and member of the Indiana University Schoof of Medicine faculty since 2021.  Although having a strong background in computer engineering and the computer sciences (a graduate of the Virginia Tech Dept of Engineering 2007), he completed his medical training at the University of Kentucky, School of Medicine in 2012.  A internship in internal medicine was completed at the University of Cincinnati, University Hospital.  Although extremely interested in primary care and internal medicine, his background in advanced imaging and computer programming techniques led him to a residency in Diagnostic Radiology completed at University of Kentucky, Chandler Hospital.  Hoping to further pursue interests in imaging guided intervention, clinical/critical care medicine, pulmonary medicine, and cardiovascular medicine, Dr. Iranmanesh subsequently pursued fellowship in advanced cardiothoracic imaging and intervention at Duke University Hospital in 2017.  He subsequently joined faculty at Duke University for several years where he provided not only diagnostic imaging services for patients with complex pulmonary, cardiac, and vascular disease; but also further honed his skills in advanced imaging guided thoracic intervention. A passion for education has always prevailed, and Dr. Iranmanesh has focused much of his academic time in developing lectures and novel forms of multimedia and interactive education with the target audience ranging from engineers designing novel CT imaging systems, medical students, residents, fellows, and also patients presenting for intervention to assist in education with respect to their conditions and planned intervention.  At the University of Indiana, Dr. Iranmanesh has taken a leadership role in assisting with expansion of fellowship offerings in the cardiothoracic imaging section.  He continues to pursue interests in both educational software development as well as the fields of complex 3D computer visualizations and AI for both clinical and educational use.  An interest in hands-on patient care continues to prevail, and Dr. Iranmanesh also devotes a large portion of his clinical time to performing (and training others) in complex imaging guided procedures.  His interest in artificial intelligence, programming, and education has led him to participate in community outreach programs to introduce local high school students to both computer related projects/AI and clinical medicine.  With respect to higher education endeavors, he strives to help expand IU impressive training program to even better train future cardiothoracic radiologists through the recently revamped fellowship program.  In addition, his background in the computer sciences has allowed for participation in both IT endeavors and educational and well as clinical projects involving software development and artificial intelligence algorithms.
