Dr. Ansel earned a BS in Biology from SUNY Stony Brook, an MS and a PhD in Communicative Sciences and Disorders from the University of Wisconsin, and completed her post-doctoral work and clinical fellowship at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and the Kennedy Krieger Institute.  She launched her career in Indiana as an Assistant Professor of Audiology and Speech Sciences at Purdue University.  From there she joined the National Institutes of Health in 1992, where she worked until 2013, rising in seniority to a Project Scientist and holding the equivalent position of a full professor.  Since taking a sabbatical to work in India in 2013, Dr. Ansel has been providing consulting and professional advisory services to various academic programs around the country for research program development.
