Natascia Marino, PhD
Assistant Research Professor of Medicine
Dr. Marino is an Assistant Professor of Medicine at the Indiana University. She holds appointment in the Division of Hematology/Oncology in the Department of Medicine. A member of the IU Simon Cancer Center, Dr. Marino works in close association with the Susan G. Komen Tissue Bank (KTB).
Dr. Marino received her PhD in Pharmacology and Molecular Oncology from a prestigious joint program between Ferrara University and University Federico II of Naples, Italy. She completed then a post-doctoral fellowship at the National Cancer Institute in Dr. Steeg’s laboratory. In her early career Dr. Marino devoted her research on the molecular mechanisms of breast cancer metastasis, with a special interest on metastasis suppressor genes. Now her laboratory focus is on breast cancer initiation and cancer susceptibility. Her goal is to identify new biomarkers able to recognize high-risk women and to get a better understanding of the genetic events underlying the first steps of cancer development.
