    White Matter

White matter comprises half of the brain in humans. White matters maintains strucutral connectivity among the distant brain regions. In addition, white matter provide structural backbone for functional connectivity. Although white matter integrity impairment appears in the early stages of Alzheimer's Disease, the cellular basis of why white matter impairment is unclear.

    Hippocampus

A mid brain structure, plays central role during spatial navigation, vital for spatial learning and memory formation. However, hippocampal structural vulnerability has been consistently reported in many brain diseases.

I have been trying to improve our understanding on white matter and hippocampal vulnerability in cognitively compromised individuals and rodents.
