Bio

William Zeh, MD, followed in his father’s footsteps to become a doctor, although ophthalmology wasn’t the specialty that first attracted him when he started his medical education.

Dr. Zeh considered orthopaedics or general surgery at first; but he learned over time that he enjoyed the relationships he was able to form with patients as he cared for them year after year. He feels that ophthalmology provides an ideal combination of a surgical specialty with primary care. He also enjoys working with the advanced technology essential to modern ophthalmology.

Dr. Zeh attended medical school at St. Louis University, graduating with high honors. He completed his internship and residency at the Baylor College of Medicine. He moved with his family in 1998 to Indiana to complete a fellowship in corneal and refractive surgery at Corneal Consultants of Indiana.

Dr. Zeh has worked in Missouri and Indiana throughout his career, including running a private practice in Indianapolis for several years starting in 2008.

He specializes in cataract and LASIK surgery and has conducted over 10,000 vision-corrective procedures. He joined the department’s fulltime faculty in 2020; but prior to that was a member of the adjunct faculty, and regularly welcomed learners into his clinics to watch refractive surgeries.

Dr. Zeh’s goal is to provide compassionate patient care while using state-of-the-art technology—and help the residents who work with him learn those important skills, too.
