Bio
Mariah Ozkir, MD is an assistant professor of child neurology who trained at Indiana University School of Medicine for her residency in child neurology and her neurophysiology fellowship, completed in 2024. She is originally from Kentucky and trained at the University of Kentucky for medical school. Her clinical practice includes treating general neurological disorders of children and adolescents, and her clinical focus is epilepsy, particularly complex, genetic, and drug-resistant epilepsies, as well as functional neurological disorders including psychogenic nonepileptic spells.
She is passionate about advocating for patients with epilepsy and their families, as well as equity in healthcare for neurodiverse and disabled children, teens and adults. She works actively to address the healthcare needs of girls and young women with epilepsy, and to improve subspecialty neurology care for LGBTQ+ youth in Indiana.
Outside of the clinic and the wards, Dr. Ozkir has a diverse background in cultural studies, classical civilizations, mathematics, philosophy and linguistics. She loves travel, cooking, reading, going to museums, learning languages and walking the many beautiful trails in Indianapolis.
