Bio

Dr. Al Hassanein is a Harvard and Johns Hopkins trained, board-certified plastic surgeon. He was born and raised in Illinois. and graduated college magna cum laude at the University of Illinois. He finished medical school at the University of Illinois in 2005. He completed a general surgery residency at the University of California San Diego. Dr. Hassanein trained in plastic surgery at the Harvard plastic surgery program and completed an additional specialized Reconstructive Microsurgery/Breast fellowship at Johns Hopkins in Baltimore.

 

Dr. Hassanein is a practicing Plastic Surgeon at IU Health in addition to his role at the IU School of Medicine. He specializes in breast reconstruction including DIEP flap, lymphedema surgery, and complex reconstruction.
