Indianapolis, IN

As the son of audacious parents, I had a nomadic childhood, living in Hawaii, California, Texas, and eventually Missouri, where I attended the University of Missouri and studied biology and music performance (viola). After graduating I left the country to serve as a Peace Corps volunteer in Cameroon, where I worked with locals to create healthier communities through education and sustainable change. I then returned to the University of Missouri for medical school where I learned about the intricacies of physiology and pathology and ultimately cultivated my passion for hematology/oncology. My career interests became focused on a desire to learn about and treat malignancies, to create long-lasting relationships with patients, to work with the international community, and to pursue broad opportunities for research. In choosing a career path, my training was unique in that my choice for residency was a combined training in internal medicine and pediatrics (Med/Peds) here at Indiana University. Ultimately this decision was made by a desire for well-rounded training that would also leave me capable of working with younger patients and those transitioning from pediatric care to long-term adult survivorship. As my career goals evolve, I have a strong interest to remain within the academic community. I value teaching and research, as these are investments in future generations and the next waves of innovation. My scientific research interests are most aligned with malignant hematology, specifically AML, ALL, and multiple myeloma, although I have also had the opportunity to work on projects studying bone marrow transplant and solid tumors. My additional interests include adolescent and young adult (AYA) medicine and transitions of care. I have loved my time here at Indiana University and have also found Indianapolis to be a wonderful place to live. If you’d like to reach out to me about my experience or our fellowship program, please feel free to do so!
