Bio
Chemen Neal, MD is an associate clinical professor and the wellness director for the Indiana University School of Medicine Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
In her role as executive associate dean for equity & inclusion, Neal works closely with academic, research and clinical leaders across the school to advance DEIJ strategic priorities for students, trainees, faculty and staff. As a member of the dean’s senior executive team, Neal serves as an institutional thought leader, contributing across mission areas. Initially in her role, she will be working toward establishing metrics to help school leadership gain a greater understanding of key areas including retention and belonging, as well as focusing on the diversification of faculty.
Neal serves in several additional leadership positions within the school, including co-chair of the Diversity Council. Twice a year, she leads the Woman to Woman workshop for underrepresented female medical students, residents, faculty and staff.
Outside of IU School of Medicine, Neal serves on a new board for Planned Parenthood as part of the recent merger between Planned Parenthood of Indiana and Kentucky (PPINK) and Planned Parenthood of the Great Northwest and the Hawaiian Islands (PPGNHI). Neal is also the physician chair of the mentorship task force for the American Medical Women’s Association and a member of the mentorship task force for the Society for Academic Specialists in General Obstetrics and Gynecology (SASGOG).
