Dr. Hartman is from Indianapolis and attended Earlham College for his undergraduate degree. Pursuing his passion for education, he taught high school biology for several years prior to deciding to change career paths and pursue medicine. He attended medical school at IU and completed his pediatric residency in Grand Rapids, MI prior to returning to Indianapolis for fellowship training. He chose to specialize in gastroenterology due to its mixture of clinic, inpatient, and procedures in addition to the wide variety of pathology and disease processes he has the opportunity to treat. His scholarly interests include medical education and cystic fibrosis. When not in the hospital you’ll find him playing sports, attempting to train his dogs, trying new restaurants around Indy, or cooking up a tasty meal at home.
