Bio
Mitesh Shah, MD, is a professor of neurological surgery and the Paul B. Nelson Endowed Chair. He is currently the interim chair for the Department of Neurological Surgery at Indiana University School of Medicine and co-director of the IU Health-IU School of Medicine Neuroscience Institute. He first joined IU School of Medicine as a faculty member in 1994.
Dr. Shah earned his medical degree from Temple University School of Medicine. He completed his internship and residency in neurological surgery at the University of Minnesota, followed by a fellowship in cranial base surgery at George Washington University.
Dr. Shah treats a wide range of conditions and diseases. One of his subspecialties is minimally invasive skull base surgery, a technique that is widely applied for treating brain tumors. His neurosurgical observations and investigations in neuro-oncology are documented in numerous peer-reviewed publications.
Dr. Shah has served on the executive committees for the Congress of Neurological Surgeons and the Neurosurgical Society of America. He was also the 74th President of the Neurological Society of America. He is an unaffiliated neurotrauma consultant for the NFL.
