Alan P. Ladd, MD
Professor of Surgery
Dr. Ladd is a tenured faculty member at the Indiana University School of Medicine. Alan completed his undergraduate degree in biochemistry at Indiana University, Bloomington campus in 1990. He earned his medical degree from Indiana University School of Medicine in Indianapolis and trained in General Surgery, again at the Indiana University School of Medicine in Indianapolis. Subspecialty training in pediatric surgery was performed at Riley Hospital for Children in Indianapolis. Since completion of training in 2002, Alan was been on staff as an attending surgeon at Riley Hospital for Children in Indianapolis and at all other metropolitan hospitals with children’s services in Indianapolis.
Alan has strong academic interests in undergraduate, graduate, and post-graduate medical education. At the IU School of Medicine, he serves as the Chair of the Curriculum Council Steering Committee of the IU School of Medicine, and faculty advisor for the Surgery Student Interest Group. He is also a clinical instructor for several IUSM elective courses.
As an instructor for General Surgery Residency and Pediatric Surgery Post-graduate Residency, Alan performs bedside clinical teaching at Riley Hospital and teaches procedural techniques in the Department of Surgery’s Center for Teaching and Learning through simulation and animal model laboratories.
