A native of Indiana who is proud to be called a Hoosier, Dr. Stevens received his undergraduate degree in Biology from Indiana University in 1980 and his M.D. from the IU School of Medicine in 1984 where he received the Marcus Ravdin award for highest academic performance. Following completion of his general surgery residency at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis he undertook an abdominal transplant surgery fellowship at the University of Chicago.
