Megan R. Crittendon, MD

Megan Crittendon, MD FACEP, is the Division Chief of IU Emergency Medicine-Indianapolis Suburban Region and East Central Region. These regions are made up of ISR-West, North, Saxony and Tipton and ECR-Ball and Jay hospitals.

Megan was named Division Chief in 2022. She joined IU Health as a staff physician in 2004 and became the IU Health West ED Medical Director in 2007. She has held multiple roles throughout the hospital: she has served as Secretary/Treasurer, Vice President and President of the Medical Staff; she served as Interim Chief Medical Officer; and as Chair of the Credentials and the Peer Review Committee. Megan led her department through three expansions and the opening of an Observation Unit. She helped her hospital become the first ED to fully integrate the EMR, CPOE and the scribe program, as well as become a Chest Pain and Stroke Center. Megan’s commitment is to relationship-centered care at the hospital. Currently, Megan serves on the ISR Board, Philanthropy Committee Board and Hope Health Care Board. She is the Chair of Board Quality at West and a member of multiple committees. She is a member of American College of Emergency Physicians and is a board certified Emergency Medicine Physician.

A Kentucky native, Megan calls Indiana home. At ten, her family moved from Lexington, Kentucky. In 1996 she earned her undergraduate degree from Indiana University. She earned her MD from IU in 2000. She left Indiana for four years for residency, initially as OB/GYN but then switched after her intern year to EM. She completed her residency at State University New York Upstate Medical University in Syracuse in 2004.

Megan lives in Indianapolis and has two adult children, two dogs and a cat. Her interests include travel, cooking, reading, fitness and gardening.
