Pediatric research at IU School of Medicine is one of the top ranked programs of its kind in the United States, consistently in the top 5-10 percent of NIH funding. With five major research centers, the Department of Pediatrics at IU School of Medicine offers a mature and vital pediatric research program.

The Division Chief for Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine, Dr. Laura Haneline and Dr. Wade Clapp, Chairman of the Department of Pediatrics and a neonatologist, both have active NIH-funded research lab at the Wells Center.

National Collaboration

The IU School of Medicine’s Division of Neonatology participates in the National Institute of Child and Human Development Neonatal Research Network. This multi-center network of level III NICUs allows for large-scale clinical research in the field of neonatology, advancing the care of premature and ill newborns across the country.
