Pediatric Hematology, Oncology and Stem Cell Transplant

The IU School of Medicine Division of Pediatric Hematology, Oncology and Stem Cell Transplant provides care for children throughout the Midwest. With comprehensive interdisciplinary disease-focused teams, doctors and staff treat 80 percent of all new pediatric cancer diagnoses in Indiana and see more than 300 new oncology patients each year. More than 13,000 outpatient visits per year focus on leukemias, solid tumors, brain tumors, hematopoietic/stem cell transplant, general hematology, sickle cell disease, bone marrow failure syndromes, hemophilia and other coagulation disorders.

IU School of Medicine pediatric faculty treat an average of 35 stem cell transplant patients annually at Riley Hospital for Children at IU Health. This is the only pediatric stem cell transplant program in the state of Indiana. A group of highly trained Advanced Practice Providers work side by side with the physician team to provide the highest level of care. Additionally, physicians are supported by a dedicated team of social workers, child life specialists and other ancillary staff who focus on helping patients and families before, during and after treatment. IU School of Medicine faculty in the Riley Center for Pediatric Cancer and Blood Disorders are fully integrated as a comprehensive service line with a mission to be a world-class academic health care leader for children with cancer and blood disorders.
