Krannert Institute of Cardiology

The physician educators in the cardiovascular program at IU School of Medicine are recognized throughout the world for their expertise in taking care of the most complex cardiovascular problems, but the Krannert Institute of Cardiology is equally focused on prevention and early detection.

Led by Peng-Sheng Chen, MD, the Krannert Institute of Cardiology physicians and scientists work in clinical and basic research to make sure patients receive the most advanced treatments. These faculty cardiologists offer expertise in the full range of heart and blood vessel problems, and treatments range from lifestyle modification to implanted heart-assist devices and transplantation. Specialized programs include heart rhythm disorder ablation and pacemaker and defibrillator implantation, coronary and peripheral vascular angioplasty, cardiomyopathy and advanced heart failure treatments, and heart valve disorders. Many of the institute’s advanced clinical programs are situated at the IU Health Cardiovascular Center.
