What is your position and how long have you been with IU?
My position is Research Data Specialist with the Dementia lab run by Dr. Ghetti. I’ve been at this position for about a year and a half, but I have been at IU since 2014.

What is your favorite part of your position?
My favorite part of my position is that I am constantly learning new things. During my undergrad, neurology/neuropathology was not one of my strong suits. Having the opportunity to just keep learning more and more about a diverse array of neurodegenerative diseases is amazing to me. Additionally, having the ability to help cutting edge science makes me realize I am contributing to some powerful science.

Fun fact about you?
I am from the frozen tundra of Minnesota. If you see a tall red head walking with shorts in the middle of winter, it is most likely me (sorry mom). Another fun fact is I am runner. I have completed several half marathons, and the goal is to complete a full marathon, which has been set back due to COVID. That goal will still be on track once the races come back.

If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be?
Tough question. I would probably say either Greece (I have a fascination with Greek history) or Australia.

What is one thing that instantly brightens your day?
My morning consumption of caffeine! Kidding. Since I don’t get to visit home very often, and had to skip the past year due to COVID, I always enjoy getting calls and text from family and friends back home.

Favorite Department of Pathology memory?
The Indians games are always good! I like seeing people out of their natural work element. Trips to the Indiana Medical History Museum are always interesting, too. It is astounding to see how far we have come in medicine.
