Medical Alumni Weekend 2020

Medical school was an important rite of passage in your life. Medical Alumni Weekend is your chance to reconnect with the people and places that made Indiana University School of Medicine such an important touchstone. Reconnect with classmates. Reminisce about the good times. Revisit the place where your journey in medicine began. And have some fun while you’re at it. Attend your class reunion from June 11 – 13, 2020 in Indianapolis.


Early Bird Reception

Thursday, June 11, 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm

Mingle with classmates and fellow alumni in town early for Medical Alumni Weekend during an open house style reception at the Indianapolis Marriott North. The area surrounding the hotel, Keystone at the Crossing, offers numerous dining options that take reservations. Consider joining us before or after dinner with your classmates.

Campus Walking Tour

Friday, June 12, 8:00 am – 12:30 pm

Hop on a bus and head to campus for a tour and an IU School of Medicine history lesson. The tour includes stops at the anatomy lab, the surgical skills lab, and the medical library. Following the tour, you will head to a classroom in Emerson Hall for a lecture on IU School of Medicine history presented by William Schneider, PhD, author of “The Indiana University School of Medicine: A History.”

Bus transportation provided to and from the Indianapolis Marriott North.

Dean’s Welcome Reception featuring Richard Gunderman, MD, PhD

Friday, June 12, 3:00 pm – 5:00 pm

Join Dean Jay Hess for a reception followed by a presentation by Richard Gunderman, MD, PhD on the legacy of Dr. Otis Bowen. Gunderman is a Chancellor’s Professor and pediatric radiologist. A favorite presenter of past Medical Alumni Weekends, Gunderman has been the recipient of the Indiana University Trustee’s Teaching Award nine times.

Brad Nieder, MD – The Healthy Humorist

Friday, June 12, 6:30 pm – 9:00 pm

Back by popular demand is the comedian described as “Jerry Seinfeld with an MD.” Licensed physician Brad Nieder, MD will entertain you with his PG-rated, medical-based comedy at an exclusive show for Medical Alumni Weekend attendees. Dinner and drinks are included in admission. Don’t miss out on an enjoyable evening with friends.

Breakfast with a History Lesson

Saturday, June 13, 7:30 am – 10:30 am

Historian and author William Schneider, PhD presents on “Where to Find the History of the IU School of Medicine.” Reconnect with classmates over breakfast prior to the start of the presentation.

Dr. Schneider will be available after the presentation for a signing of his book “The Indiana University School of Medicine: A History.”
