It is important to know why patients must be protected during biomedical research and to understand the ethical, practical and regulatory principles involved in doing research. In addition, all practicing physicians need to know about the elements of informed consent and the oversight given to research activities by Institutional Review Boards. Because Indiana University School of Medicine (IUSM) strongly believes that medical students should be familiar with issues related to human subject research, IUSM requires that all medical students receive training in human subject research. Your human subject research training includes completion of 9 Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI) modules. All rising Phase 1 Year 2 students (Class of 2027) are expected to complete the modules between May 6th and July 19th, 2024. You received an email on May 6th describing how to complete these modules and upload your completion certificate into MedHub.
