Clinical Care

Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) specialist physicians treat patients with injuries related to work and sports, trauma, and diseases of the musculoskeletal system. Rehabilitation addresses major physical impairments, including stroke, brain injury and spinal cord injury, often in an inpatient setting. PM&R doctors also perform electrodiagnosis (electromyography-EMG) to diagnose nerve and muscle disease.

Physician educators in the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Indiana University School of Medicine provide patient care in the school’s Indianapolis clinical partner facilities, including

  • The Rehabilitation Hospital of Indiana
  • Richard L. Roudebush Indianapolis VA Medical Center
  • IU Health Riley Hospital for Children
