Indiana University School of Medicine—Northwest—Gary
The Gary campus of IU School of Medicine is located on the IU Northwest campus in a highly populated urban region, south of Lake Michigan and just 25 miles from downtown Chicago. Students at this campus benefit from the IU School of Medicine’s high-quality statewide MD curriculum with an added benefit of studying in an urban location near Chicago. A wide variety of choices for third- and fourth-year clerkships provide access to a diverse patient population and a close relationship with attending physicians for challenging, real-world clinical experiences.
With 11 major teaching hospitals in the area with approximately 2800 beds, medical students at the Gary campus have a vast variety of medical training opportunities. An expanded residency program is being developed for the Gary campus and will accommodate more than 100 new graduate medical education positions.
The faculty and staff at the Gary campus are focused on innovative education and basic science discoveries as part of IU School of Medicine’s robust teaching and research community. This environment promotes patient-centered care at every stage of the four-year medical curriculum.
