Graduates of CoARC-accredited, associate degree programs in respiratory therapy at a regionally accredited college or university are eligible to apply for advanced standing in the Respiratory Therapy baccalaureate degree program at Indiana University School of Medicine.
Once admitted, advanced standing candidates are enrolled in the fourth year of the program’s professional program curriculum. In most cases, no additional clinical hours are required.
RequirementsIn order to be considered for advanced standing, applicants must possess an associate degree in Respiratory Care/Respiratory Therapy from a regionally accredited college or university and have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.00. Applicants must have earned a “C” or higher for all respiratory therapy courses in the associate degree program. Advanced standing applicants must complete all program prerequisites before beginning the senior respiratory therapy courses.
The IUPUI campus has a limit on the number of credits that can be transferred from a two-year institution. More information on this policy is available through the IU School of Medicine Health Professions Programs Administrative Office.
