Why I chose Family Medicine: They say family medicine is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you’re going to get. The broad scope and diversity in family medicine has always been something I’ve been drawn towards. Not knowing what may come through the door keeps you on your feet and challenges your knowledge on a daily basis. The opportunity to work with my hands and perform in office procedures, while at the same time forging deep personal relationships with my patients, along with my passion for preventative medicine made the specialty of family medicine a no-brainer for me.
Why I chose the IU School of Medicine Family Medicine Residency Program at Memorial: The biggest thing that stood out to me at this program were the people. From the moment I arrived everyone was warm and welcoming, you could genuinely sense the passion everyone has for this residency program. It’s a very close-knit program and very much has that family feel I was going for. The IU residency program at Memorial Hospital is unopposed and that was something very important for me in my training. As a rural program the amount of pathology is truly remarkable and reflects the diversity of the community. Having the opportunity to train at an Indiana University affiliated residency program comes with many benefits and affords us resources and opportunities to further our education.
Personal interests and hobbies: I enjoy cooking, eating, and watching Netflix on my free time. I’m a big hockey fan and love watching the Toronto Maple Leafs. I also enjoy going out for runs and snowboarding.
