Why I chose family medicine: I chose family medicine for the diversity. I love being able to go to work every day whether inpatient or outpatient clinic and never knowing what to expect. Family medicine physicians are also privileged to be one of the few specialties that are able to develop lifelong relationships with our patients and their families. 

Why I chose the IU Health Primary Care Central Indianapolis Family Medicine Residency Program: I was born and raised in Mississippi, living there my entire life up until residency. As much as I love my hometown, I knew that it was time to expand my horizons and experience living somewhere new. I was immediately drawn to IU after my interview with them. Indianapolis itself is an amazing city with lots of fun things to do, but what really sold me was the people in the program! From the second I walked in the door, I knew I was home and would continue to build strong relationships with my co-workers and faculty members.

Personal interests and hobbies: I try to get outside as often as I can and love to spend sunny afternoons out on the golf course or playing with my dogs, Molly and Maggie. I realized Molly needed a new friend to play with while I was gone working long hours, so I recently rescued a puppy from the local shelter and could not have made a better decision. Since moving to Indy and becoming a first-time homeowner, I have developed a knack for designing and constructing things around my house and backyard. I am a big-time sports fan, and football season is by far my favorite time of the year!
