Why IU: Both my move to Indianapolis (exactly 1,004 miles from home) and my choice in Med/Peds at IU could not have been more perfect. My main motivation in choosing Med/Peds was my interest in Child Abuse Pediatrics and desire to provide thoughtful transition of care for this vulnerable population. While this population has a special place in my heart, I keep on finding out that I like everything- especially the ICU. Luckily, I chose IU for my residency home. When I visited, I could tell that this was a place where everyone in the program was invested in helping residents meet their unique goals. Med/Peds is a wide field of opportunities, and as one of the oldest and largest programs in the nation, IU has the privilege of putting their residents on almost every path imaginable. I felt like here I could receive strong, well-balanced training in many areas without sacrificing the special interests that brought me to this field in the first place. Most of all, the people here have made it easy to call this foreign, sometimes snowy, basketball-loving, good-hearted, foodie paradise of Circle City, “Home”. I hope that even upon visiting us in the blustery winter interview months, that you feel the same warm welcome that I have felt from the people here. We truly, truly want the best for you!
