Bio

Where did you grow up?

Outside of Washington, DC in Northern Virginia.

What is your medical school/undergraduate background?

I attended the University of Pennsylvania with a major in Health and Societies for my undergraduate education. For medical school, I attended Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University. I lived in Philadelphia for 9 years before moving to Indianapolis.

Why are you pursuing a career in ENT?

I was initially attracted to the field of otolaryngology as a medical student due to the fascinating, complex surgical procedures. The ability to be a medical and surgical provider for my patients also appealed me, as I love developing long term relationships with patients. As I have progressed in residency, our faculty at IU School of Medicine have inspired me to pursue a career in facial plastic and reconstructive surgery. I hope to use the creative and varied procedures of facial plastic surgery to serve a wide variety of patients, but have a particular interest in focusing on gender affirmation surgery in my future career.

What intrigued you about IU School of Medicine?

On my interview day, I was struck by the great atmosphere in the department and the amazing personalities and accomplishments of our faculty. The surgical case volume was extremely impressive and the research opportunities in the department were excellent. IU School of Medicine's program really checked all my boxes, and I felt immediately welcomed by the entire department. I knew very quickly that I would fit in well here, and that it was the type of learning environment where I would thrive.

What have you learned most from faculty in the department?

In addition to great surgical skills, I am learning how to be a caring and compassionate physician. Our faculty are always there for their patients and are role models for excellent care. They have also shown me how they balance life as an academic attending with life outside the hospital.

What are some of your hobbies?

I love cooking, taking care of my plants while also acquiring unnecessary new plants, yoga, Pilates and biking. When I am not working, I am usually hanging out with my friends and/or my one-toothed cat.?
