Bio
Jacquelyn Lajiness, MD, PhD is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pediatrics, Division of Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine. The Lajiness laboratory focuses on understanding how changes in the immune milieu of the in utero environment lead to preterm birth and what effect this has on the development of the neonate. Her goal is to delineate the immune underpinnings of preterm birth to identify pregnancies at risk, as well as potential targets for intervention. Her lab is presently focusing on the role of regulatory T cells at the maternal-fetal interface and how the cytokines present influence downstream, signaling in both the mother and the fetus to lead to preterm birth and postnatal complications. As a neonatologist, Dr. Lajiness is committed to taking care of our most premature infants and is working to increase our understanding of the mechanisms of preterm birth to better inform their care.
