Indiana Bioengineering Interdisciplinary Training for Diabetes Research
The Indiana Bioengineering Interdisciplinary Training for Diabetes Research Program is an interdisciplinary, integrated research training program for predoctoral students interested in pursuing careers in bioengineering. Co-directed by faculty from IU School of Medicine and Purdue University, the aim of this program is to develop bioengineers capable of leading integrative and team-based approaches to solve issues relevant to the understanding, prevention and treatment of diabetes and diabetic complications.
A carefully designed and flexible curriculum provides in-depth training for engineering students in an environment that provides strong interdisciplinary support for bioengineering and diabetes research. This program is comprised of coursework to broaden research training at the bench with quantitative skills, opportunities for public speaking and a wide-range of extracurricular activities – all allowing for the integration of medicine and engineering sciences.
