When researchers are communicating and interacting with diverse groups, cultural competence is a factor in how successful those efforts will be. Understanding that can help keep culture from becoming a barrier. There are resources given to researchers to help with increasing their cultural competence, but the main component is for the researcher to be open minded and willing to learn themselves.
