The one-day event will bring together tourism and hospitality professionals, destination marketers, event planners, arts and cultural organizations, artists, “foodists”, and tourism students for three tracks of presentations about collaboration, cultured destinations and the culture of experience.

Presentations include:

           Placemaking Makes Money

           Stepping Back in Time

It’s About How You Get There

The conference also features an artisans showcase. About 16 artisans are expected to have booths at the conference.

The IU Department of Tourism, Conventions and Event Management at IUPUI is able to present the conference thanks to a significant gift from the Efroymson Family Fund. The conference will be held in the Bloomington Monroe County Convention Center from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Mark Newman, the executive director of the Indiana Office of Tourism Development, will address the future of state tourism brands at the conference luncheon. The $25,000 Efroymson Award for Excellence in Cultural Tourism Development will also be presented at the luncheon. The Efroymson Award recognizes a nonprofit organization for a creative, emerging cultural tourism initiative. Two runner ups will each receive $5,000 award.
