IU School of Medicine Orchestra to perform free concert April 14

INDIANAPOLIS — The Indiana University School of Medicine Orchestra will present its spring concert at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 14, in the Klipsch Auditorium at the Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis Campus Center, 420 University Blvd.

The concert is free and open to the public and will feature 40 musically talented medical and nursing students, medical residents, faculty and staff of the IU schools of medicine and dentistry.

Selections will include “Feuerfest (Fireproof!) Polka Francaise, Op. 269” by Josef Strauss; Overture to “Candide” by Leonard Bernstein; “Montaigus et Capulets” from the ballet “Romeo et Juliet” by Serge Prokofiev; “Polka Mazur, Op. 204” by Josef Strauss; “Musetta’s Waltz” from “La Boheme” by Giacomo Puccini; and “Pirates of the Caribbean” by Klaus Badelt.

David Schurger is conducting.

A coffee and cookie reception will follow the performance. This event is sponsored by the IU School of Medicine Office of Medical Service Learning and IU School of Medicine Alumni Association.
