Bio

Dr. Ford received his undergraduate degree from Harvard College and was a Special Student in biochemical sciences at Harvard University. He received his medical degree from the University of Rochester School of Medicine. Fords professional training included Bassett Hospital, Cooperstown, NY, the National Institutes of Health, Peter Bent Brigham Hospital and the University College London.

His academic interests include: heart failure, muscle physiology, contractile mechanisms, and application of muscle physiology to whole animal function. Dr. Ford became affiliated with the IU School of Medicine in 1996 and serves as a professor of medicine. He also is the director of the Heart Failure and Post-Heart Transplant Clinic at the VA Medical Center, Indianapolis. Prior to coming to IU, he was on faculty at the University of Chicago where he was an associate professor of medicine and cardiology.

Dr. Ford has been recognized with awards from both the National Institutes of Health and the American Heart Association. He has authored 81 papers and one book and has served on the editorial boards of numerous professional publications.
