Bio
Dr. Hulme is an assistant clinical professor at Indiana University School of Medicine. Prior to choosing a career in in medicine she enjoyed exercise physiology, biomechanics, and human performance. She eventually decided to become a physician and earned her medical degree at the University of Toledo in her native Ohio. After an internship in general surgery at the University of North Dakota, she completed her residency in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation at the University of Pennsylvania, where she served as Chief Resident. Dr. Hulme finished an additional year of fellowship training in Primary Care Sports Medicine at Loyola University Medicine. She is board certified in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation and Sports Medicine.
In clinical practice, Dr. Hulme values a team approach to treating musculoskeletal disorders that is personalized to an individual’s goals. She focuses on the conservative treatment of acute and chronic orthopedic conditions. She has expertise in the female athlete, including stress fractures and relative energy deficiency in sport. She is skilled in fluoroscopically guided thoracolumbar spine injections as well as ultrasound-guided peripheral joint and soft tissue injections including nerve blocks. Her goal is to work with patients to optimize function, return to an active lifestyle, and help prevent future injury. As a physiatrist she is also very adept in supporting the adaptive athlete. Dr. Hulme has served as a Network Team Physician for the US Soccer Federation, team physician across all NCAA Divisions, NAIA, and ACHA college athletes, as well as high school sports teams. She has extensive experience providing medical care at community sporting events including soccer tournaments, marathons, triathlons, and figure skating competitions.
