Mona A. Raed, MD

Dr. Raed is a board certified pediatric palliative medicine and hospice physician who joined the Pediatric Palliative Care faculty team in January of 2019. She grew up in Cleveland, Ohio (although she did live in four other states prior to her family settling in Ohio). She completed an integrated B.S./M.D. program, completing her undergraduate studies at Kent State University and medical school at the Northeast Ohio Medical University. After medical school, she completed both her Pediatric residency and Palliative Medicine fellowship at Akron Children’s Hospital. She remained at Akron Children’s as a palliative medicine and hospice physician within the Haslinger Family Pediatric Palliative Care center. Her patient care management ranged from integral pain and symptom management to comprehensive management of patients with complex needs, prenatal consultation to partnering with hospice agencies to provide compassionate end of life management. Included in the day to day patient care was the opportunity to teach learners of varying levels. She has felt a great honor in serving both her patients and their families as well as guiding and teaching residents and fellows. Her husband is also an IU physician. They have two sons who keep them on their toes and bring them the greatest joy.
